We are the ubc seismic design team!

For over a decade, the UBC Seismic Design Team has brought together students with interest in structural and earthquake engineering to compete in the annual EERI Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition. Students work together to apply their engineering knowledge in designing, testing, and building a scale model of a high-rise building that is both architecturally pleasing and seismically stable.

The Team
 

Each year, our team designs and constructs a tower to compete against over 40 teams from around the world. The design stage involves extensive use of Structural and 3D modelling software, while the construction stage requires technical skills such as laser cutting and 3D printing. Our goal is to help students improve their engineering skills while gaining experience in completing an extracurricular project from start to finish.
